It’s not a nursery rhyme we know Shimajiro’s nursery rhyme is “too hip hop” I asked Benesse why a rough trap beat.
A nursery rhyme posted on Shimajiro’s official YouTube channel has become a hot topic on SNS, saying, “It’s a nursery rhyme, but it’s too HIPHOP.” The editorial department asked Benesse Corporation, the operator, about the background.
The topic was posted about a year ago on January 25, 2022 A video called. Just when you think it started with a piano like a nursery rhyme, a distorted guitar suddenly cuts in. Adults like this
While anthropomorphic vehicles and Shimajiro are drawn cutely, behind them is a thumping HIPHOP beat. 8 beats with sharp 16-minute increments are “that” of the genre called “trap” that has taken the hip-hop world by storm in recent years.
In addition, the video “Shimajiro Lifestyle Kirakiraboshi” also uses a similar 16-minute beat. Why on earth does it have such an unconventional finish that incorporates trends, even though it is a nursery rhyme for children?
The editorial department interviewed Benesse, the operator.
Do you know that the beat of “Shimajiro’s nursery rhyme” has become a hot topic on social media?
I remember.
There is a lot of talk about the “Gorigori HIPHOP beat”, but please tell us about the concept when composing.
This song was produced through an animation production company called Shoguns Studios in London, England.
For children and parents in English-speaking countries, familiar themes that are useful for families with young children, such as lifestyle habits and wearing a helmet when riding a bicycle, were translated into familiar nursery rhymes and developed in the form of music videos.
The theme, motif, and direction of the lyrics were based on our company’s project, but the purpose of the production was for “people in English-speaking countries” to enjoy (Shimajiro’s English YouTube video). So I left the arrangement to Shoguns Studios and the staff who coordinated it.
The two songs picked up this time were originally produced for the English version of YouTube, dubbed into Japanese, and have also been developed on the Shimajiro YouTube channel in Japan.
The beat maker is not listed in the summary column, but have you made it public?
We have not announced the beat maker.
“Shimajiro” has collaborated with rappers in the past, but does Shimajiro like rap?
Shimajiro loves music and dance, so I think he will be happy if we can continue to collaborate with various music and artists, including rap.
Finally, please give us a word about the response.
We hope that many people will enjoy this opportunity.
